Our Goods Received Report spreadsheet provides comprehensive listing of the assets collected including any faults or damage found in our testing process. The initial offer pricing is included so the report is also a statement of the final amount we will be paying for the consignment once we have your confirmation that the report is accepted.

Item serial numbers, asset numbers and corporate identification numbers are all recorded in the report. We usually process equipment and provide our Goods Received Report within 21 business days of collection.

Where faults or damages are found in a particular item that has saleable value we will assess making repairs to the item so that it can be re-utilized rather than recycled.

If repairs are viable the price we have offered will be reduced by the cost of parts incurred in making the repairs. In some instances it proves more worthwhile to use parts from a faulty machine to repair problems which may exist in similar machines.

Our aim is to minimize the volume of assets which will go to recycling and to minimize any reductions in value to our clients’ assets.

We offer several options for data wiping which include Blancco’s Secure Eraze sanitization method of data destruction which is superior to traditional forms of data wiping because it uses the disc drive’s own firmware to perform the wipe.

There is no need to perform multiple wipes because the writing occurs from within the drive, meaning the drive’s write fault detection prevents any misses. This makes Secure Erase superior to many other data sanitization methods.

According to the USA National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) the only method of software-based data sanitation must be one that utilizes a hard drive’s Secure Erase commands.

When these assets reach the eventual end of life it can be in countries which have very poor, unregulated e-waste recycling facilities. These facilities can include using child labour in their workforce, generate significant pollution in melting down metals and may not properly recycle low value material.

Where Companion Trading collects ICT equipment that cannot be reused or resold we use recycling companies in Australia that ensure the e-waste materials are processed in an environmentally correct manner that is in accordance with ISO 14001 and AS/NZS: 5377 and all local, state and federal regulations.
